Bishops, Benedictines and books in Scandinavia. North Sea networks 950–1150
Among the earliest material witnesses to Christianity in Scandinavia are fragments of missals and other liturgical books: missals, lectionaries, and other manuscripts used in ecclesiastical and monastic settings. These fragments provide unique evidence, not only for transmission of texts and liturgical practices, but also for the early networks during the formative centuries of the Scandinavian Church. These early networks and their books will be explored more closely in this conference.
