She leads WP1, focusing on the earliest books and their networks, and also has a coordinating role in WP5.
Tuomas is a historian and a specialist in medieval literary culture in the Nordic countries, with particular interest in the use and function of books, manuscripts and literary networks. His work centers on the political and social role of literacy and writing during the Middle Ages, especially in the Eastern Nordic region. He leads WP4, investigating literary networks in the North, and also has a role in WP5.
Matthew is a bioarchaeologist with expertise in the biomolecular analysis of ancient materials, particularly parchment. His research focuses on the application of scientific methods to understand manuscript production, livestock origins, and the processes of bookmaking. He leads WP2, investigating parchment and its production methods.

She is trained as a conservator with a Master of Science from the University of Gothenburg, and she brings experience in conservation, conservation science and collection care.
